Most Disaster Recovery Plans only focuses on the structured
data of relational databases in information systems.
The Gartner Group recently surveyed IT managers, finding over 60% did not have a basic Disaster Recovery Plan to mediate the effects of a disaster. Existing
plans, with a goal to have operations up and running quickly, generally do not go beyond hard infrastructure
backup.
Supporting and maintaining your computer system is critical to customer
satisfaction. However, DESI also knows that there is more to supporting your customer
relationships than just the computer systems.
Almost 80% of your
organization's Intellectual Assets are unstructured data
- paper stored in filing cabinets and boxes, electronic files such as spreadsheets, word processing files, image
files (such as TIF & PDF), emails and their attachments. Generally, there is no back up for this data.
Adding to the complexity is this data is often under the custody of individual employees who are dealing with their
daily responsibilities and not thinking of a disaster recovery.
A complete Disaster Preparedness Plan incorporates
the traditional structured data AND the unstructured data
that is the history of your organization and the basis your future business decisions.
DESI has a total understanding of the dramatic impact of 9/11 and the critical
needs you have in developing and implementing a Disaster Preparedness
Plan. We also know you have little additional manpower to implement that plan in
a timely and cost effective manner. DESI
offers the support of an outsourced effort using the elements we believe will provide
a successful implementation -
